Parga and its beautiful Venetian Castle

If you have visited Parga, you have experienced the crystal-blue waters and the unique rock-like formations emerging from the sea. You may have even walked in the cobblestoned pathways and wandered in a Greek town that resembles in some ways Venice…

Have you visited the beautiful Venetian Castle of Parga?

The Venetian Castle of Parga is truly a must-see attraction known for its stunning views of the Ionian Sea and the surrounding countryside!

Initially, the Venetian authorities built the castle in the 13th century as a way to defend the town of Parga, which was a Venetian colony, from Ottoman attacks. The castle is situated on a hill overlooking the town and the sea, and it was designed to be easily defendable with its high walls and strong fortifications.

Moreover, the castle has undergone several renovations over the years, and it has a mixture of architectural styles, including Venetian, Byzantine, and Ottoman influences.

Today, the Venetian Castle of Parga is open to the public. Visitors can explore the castle and learn about its history, as well as enjoy the panoramic views.
