In-Town Baggage Drop for Athens Airport

Do you travel frequently in and out of Athens airport? Now, you won’t need to carry your heavy check-in bag to the airport.

Port of Piraeus Baggage Drop

At the Port of Piraeus, which is Athens’ largest port, the so-called “In Town Check In” at passenger gate E3 is a new mini terminal where you can drop off your bags for flights from Athens International Airport. You can use the service in Piraeus between three hours and one full day ahead of your flight time.

Leave Your Luggage, Go Sightseeing

The staff there will help you drop off your luggage and receive your boarding pass. Then you are free to explore Athens’s famous sites, world-renowned monuments and museums, mini-island hopping, retail shopping, and more. Your luggage is shipping to the airport while you go sightseeing.

Also in the mini-terminal is a cafe-bistro where you get a quick snack before your journey to the airport. From the mini-terminal you can easily get to metro, bus, and train connections.

Who Can Use the New Baggage Drop?

This new service is made available by the Spirit World Group, along with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, and AIA. Spirit World Group’s CEO, Mike Spiridakos, said during the launch event: “This is a new, innovative product for Greece and our tourism,” Talking about the new service, Spiridakos said it can be used by anybody leaving from Athens Airport, including ferry passengers, cruise passengers, residents of Piraeus, and business travelers.

Spirit World Group has plans to open a second check-in service in the center of Athens, and they are also considering other locations. Spiridakos spoke about the potential to launch a check-in service in the upcoming Hellinikon neighborhood in Athens, and also the possibility of the same concept on Crete.

Other Services at In-Town Check-In

Spiridakos also announced an all-day public transit ticket for passengers using the In-Town Check-In in Piraeus. He describes it as a “one-way ticket from Piraeus to Athens Airport, but with stops.” The ticket will be valid for 24 hours and will allow limitless use of the metro, the suburban railway, ISAP trains, and buses in Athens.

At the in-town check In is also a baggage wrapping system, booking assistance for taxis, and booking assistance for car rental services.
