Interview with Outside Founders
We sat down with Eva Papadimitriou, Outside’s founder, to find out more about their unique approach.
1. What is Outside Landscape Architecture‘s Philosophy?
Eva shared that the philosophy of Outside is based on human beings, where the human is the protagonist. The key is respecting what was once in the area, and to improve the quality of life of those who live there.
2. What is Your Hope for the Future of the Company?
Eva believes that the practice should adjust itself to new circumstances, such as climatic change, lack of water, etc). She also shared that the hope for the future is to collaborate well with other faculties like the engineers. It’s important, in her eyes, for talented young people with dreams and creativity to be involved in projects.
In the long run, this process will give back to the project, especially when there is good collaboration. The most important thing, though, that Eva expects, is adjustments for sustainability, like designs for efficient water consumption, re-enforcement of biodiversity, etc.
3. What are Your Expectations for the Future of Landscape Design in Greece?
Eva expects that landscape architects will get more known in Greece. Everything will become more organized and more planned, with a respect for the agricultural land moving front and center in the design process.

Landscape Design Architecture Projects
Summer House in Kostos, Paros
The Landscape Design of the residence aimed to create a tranquil and sustainable Cycladic garden. Large groups of creeping rosemary were planted along the residence and the staircases, offering a calming and scented atmosphere. Tall Cypresses and a Pomegranate tree were placed as landmarks in wind – sheltered spots. Big clusters of grasses with different color and texture, were planted throughout the garden, forming a sustainable and unique landscape.

Golf Courses at Pylos, Messinia, Navarino Hills
This is definitely the best location for golfing in the Peloponnese, and possibly in all of Greece. The resorts are renowned for their high level of service, and visitors come from all over the world to golf here.
The golf courses are found next to a range of mixed-use resorts, luxury private homes, wellness centers, and top-quality tennis courts, along with a wide choice of food venues.
The main scope of Outside’s work in the landscape study was the planting and irrigation of the green areas between the West and East Golf Courses in the area Kynigos. This project is for functional as well as aesthetic reasons, along the cart roads, between the courses and in front of the buildings.
