In 2006, I was invited to attend an ultra running festival in Loutraki, and together with the whole team we immediately made a week of Greek holiday. Later on, it would turn out to be the first of a long series. New contacts and invitations ensured that within a very short time I was flying to Greece at least 3 or 4 times a year, with the Peloponnese often being the main destination. It gave me the opportunity to enjoy more and more the Greek hospitality, their culture, their food, their beautiful nature and the typical informality.
So it did not take long for my wife and I to realise that this would be a place where we would very much like to stay for longer periods of time. So from 2013 onwards, the search for a house that could steal both our hearts, but… that also had to be affordable, became a little more active. In 2016, on my birthday, yep, we drove to the Second Home Fair in Antwerp. After some searching, we found the only representative there, Elxis, who offered help in looking for a Greek holiday home. Giorgos & Vangelis were very correct and nice to talk to and took the time to answer all our questions. We returned home with a very good feeling and some concrete agreements.
A few weeks later, Elxis offered me a large number of possible properties and it just so happened that the estate agent they worked with was no longer unknown to me. During my next visit to the ultra race “The Spartathlon”, I suddenly booked two extra days and went intensively to view the houses.
One house had already received my special attention in advance, in terms of location, size, possibilities and certainly the price. When I visited that house during the first day I knew: “this was my dream house, my dream location” … Everything was there as I had hoped. So the choice was quickly made.
Thanks to the very smooth and correct cooperation with Elxis and the local estate agent, everything went very quickly. In mid-December we came to an agreement with the owners that was signed in early January. In mid-February 2017, with the excellent professional assistance of Elxis’ lawyer, the final deed could be signed. Two months later the construction of the swimming pool was already started and the garden was given a total facelift, the result was more than successful. Even more than before, we were crazy about it.
For the last year and a half, we have travelled there almost every 6 weeks and never once have we been bored. It is a beautiful region, we are in an oasis of peace and quiet at less than ten minutes’ drive from the super nice town of Nafplion.
It was not for nothing that we named this place “Το Ονειρο Μας”, or: “our dream”.
We realise that without Elxis’ help we would probably still be looking for our dream location, and we are very grateful to Giorgos, Vangelis and their team for that!
