For years we have been looking around for a place where we could have our second home. France, Spain, Portugal or Greece.
We really wanted to be near the sea, because we and our children grew up on the beach (Scheveningen). There always had to be water nearby. With the first three countries, the closer to the coast, the higher the prices, so we started looking at Greece, where we often went on holiday in the past.
Our eye fell on an advertisement in the magazine Greece of houses offered by Elxis, especially the construction and of course the price looked attractive. In the spring of 2006 we made an appointment with Vangelis and Giorgos at their office in Utrecht, where we were kindly received. In the beginning we were suspicious, partly due to all sorts of horror stories from Dutch people who had bought abroad. Soon we lost our suspicion, no question was too much and the clear explanations quickly broke the ice.
They arranged a viewing for us on Crete in May 2006. Gary the salesman from the construction company showed us several plots and was very helpful in finding the right place and house. After an exhausting day we wanted 24 hours to think things over. We had our eye on a plot near the village of Loutra and decided to take an option, as we also had to arrange things financially. At the end of August 2006, we signed the contract for our house in Loutra Country, which was to be completed by the end of February 2008.
During the construction we could tell Vangelis and Giorgos our questions and doubts, they always knew a solution and the whole thing went without any problems. Thanks to Elxis we still do not regret our decision to buy a house in Crete. We now feel at home there and have made many new friends.
Even after the purchase we still have a pleasant contact with Elxis, with the New Year’s reception in January as proof, where we spoke to many Greek tourists and everyone was full of praise about the Elxis team.
