Lefkada’s Best Beaches: The Ultimate List

Lefkada is a beautiful island nestled in the Ionian Sea, which is on the west coast of Greece. Lefkada is very appealing to those looking to enjoy a less crowded side of Greece that features crystal clear waters and expansive sandy coastlines nonetheless.

Lefkada hosts quite a number of amazing beaches… if you are planning a short trip to Lefkada, and you won’t have time to visit all of the incredible sites, we recommend the following hand-picked stunning beaches.

Beaches of Lefkada

Porto Katsiki

Porto Katsiki is the most famous beach in Lefkada, and for a good reason. It has been called “an obligatory experience”. With its turquoise waters, soft white sand, and towering cliffs, Porto Katsiki is paradise on earth. To get there, you need to make a steep descent down the cliffside but worry not: the effort is well worth it.

Egremni

Egremni is another well-known beach that should be on everyone’s must-visit list. Similarly to Porto Katsiki, Egremni is situated at the bottom of a cliff that is connected by a long staircase to the top. Once you reach the beach, you will witness a wide stretch of soft sand and ever-blue waters. Both Porto Katsiki and Egremni feature some small tavernas and cafes where you can get a refreshment.

Kathisma

Kathisma is probably the longest and most popular beach in Lefkada. It is the perfect place for swimming, but most importantly for sunbathing. It is a well-maintained, organized beach, meaning several beach bars and restaurants are located there.

If you’re feeling adventurous, Kathisma beach is known for the range of water sports, including windsurfing, paddleboarding, and even paragliding. Flying over the Kathisma beach, with the option of flying in tandem with a professional pilot, offers stunning views and the opportunity to really learn about the island’s nature.

Mikros Gialos

Mikros Gialos reserves a place in this ultimate list as it is a perfectly protected and secluded gulf on the island’s eastern side. Mikros Gialos, which translates in Greek into the small bay, is not a sandy beach but s covered in large smooth pebbles. Given its location, it is one of Lefkada’s quiet beaches, guaranteeing a peaceful and refreshing time in clear turquoise waters.

Pefkoulia

Pefkoulia is a long, sandy beach less crowded than some other beaches in Lefkada. It’s a great spot for surfing and windsurfing, and several water sports facilities are offered nearby, allowing for a fun time. The beach is secluded by a forest of pine trees, providing a beautiful natural setting.

Windsurfing is very popular in Lefkada and Pefkoulia is a recommended location for those seeking to either get introduced to this activity or experience the unique setting.
