“You are absolutely in good hands” | Kock & Hannie – Paleros

Date

In 1988, during our first holiday with our camper van, we made a round trip through Greece. Via Thessaloniki to Athens, Cape Sounion, Canal of Corinth, Sparta, Kalamata, Olympia, Patras, Ioaninna, Kalambaka and then leaving Greece again via Thessaloniki and travelling back to the Netherlands. During this trip we gained a lot of impressions that will stay with us for a long time.

We could not have imagined at the time that from this first introduction to Greece we would go back there every year, twice a year. What attracted us to Greece? The hospitality of the people, the beautiful landscape, the nice weather, the wonderful beaches, the delicious food, in short, too much to mention. In the meantime, we have made many friends in Greece.

Despite the fact that we have enjoyed visiting Greece with our camper van all these years, the idea popped up regularly to look for our “own little house” somewhere in one of the many nice places we have visited before. But then, the question soon arises: how do you go about it? What is for sale? What are our options? What pitfalls can we encounter? What about the Greek laws and regulations concerning your own house? What about taxes? Etc. etc.

We searched the internet and visited the Second Home Fair in Utrecht several times and here we were introduced to Elxis for the first time 2-3 years ago. We were informed by Vangelis and Giorgos about various possibilities in a very pleasant, professional and comprehensive way. Then we came back home and dreamed of our own house, made further plans with the end result that we decided in the beginning of 2009 to really go for it.

During our holidays in the beginning of 2010 we visited, after consultation and recommendation of Vangelis, a number of locations in Greece to see if there was a suitable second home for us.

And so true, we succeeded. Fantastic! In the middle of 2010 we bought a 3-bedroom flat in a small new construction project, Ionian Nest, located in Pogonia. A small authentic Greek village at a stone’s throw from the more famous Paleros. Larger places like Vonitsa with its local market, Preveza with its airport Aktio, Lefkas with its nice town and tourist spots, beautiful beaches and all this on a reasonably short distance.

The whole purchase process, the negotiations, research into property titles, the notary, the required lawyer, the application for our own Greek bank account, registration in the Greek land register etc. was arranged for us by Vangelis and Giorgos in an excellent way.

Even when we were in Greece and still had some questions we could always call on Vangelis and Giorgos, even during their own holidays. Where do you find that here?

Meanwhile, it is already almost a year ago that we, as proud owners, regularly stay in our own flat. We enjoy every moment of the day and it gives us a lot of rest, no stress, nice contacts with the locals and we hope to use our “own place” a lot after my retirement.

We got to know Giorgos and Vangelis as very knowledgeable and pleasant people who are always ready to help you with a high degree of service so you can leave your affairs in their capable hands.

Should you ever want to buy or sell a house or other real estate in Greece, we recommend Elxis for this, you are absolutely in good hands.
