You can probably guess which products are the most commonly exported from Greece. You probably imagine olive oil, feta cheese, and ouzo. However, did you know that one of Greece's exports (not a food) is 15 times more valuable than its olive oil exports. Did you know that one of Greece's largest food exports is tropical fruits?

We’ve all seen the massive cruise ships coming in to dock in Santorini. They advertise cheap, affordable rates and access to the most popular Greek islands. But what is the truth behind these massive ships? Is it really a good idea to take a cruise in Greece?

According to Fraport, a major transport provider and owner of 14 of Greece’s airports, Greece had record passenger traffic in 2023. More specifically, international passenger traffic boosted by 6.5 percent compared to 2022 and 14 percent over pre-pandemic 2019. The total number of passengers (national and international) handled was 33,800,000, which was an 8.6 percent boost compared to 2022. One of the strongest months was December, when Fraport airports welcomed 754,000 passengers, which was 12.7 percent higher than December in 2022. Statistically, international arrivals grew more than domestic arrivals in this period.

According to the latest data from the Greek Tourism Confederation, SETE, the two largest cities in Greece, Athens and Thessaloniki, are still the most popular. They have an increased number of passengers visiting when compared to the same period in 2022. In total, in the first ten months of 2023, passengers arriving at all international airports in Greece numbered 23 million. Athens’s airport received 28.4% more travelers than last year (measuring until October), and Thessaloniki had 20.3% more travelers during this time.
