Chrysi Ammoudia, or Golden Beach, sits on the north-eastern coast of Thasos, roughly 11 km from the island capital of Limenas (about a 20 to 25 minute drive) and 4 km below the traditional mountain village of Panagia, known for its stone houses, plane trees and running spring water. Thasos itself is the green island of the northern Aegean, wrapped in pine forest and olive groves and known for its marble, its honey and its beaches. Reaching it is straightforward: the ferry from Keramoti to Limenas takes about 35 to 40 minutes and runs frequently throughout the day, and Kavala International Airport is a short drive from the Keramoti ferry, putting the house roughly 1 hour 30 minutes from the airport under normal conditions.
