Three Villas, One of a Kind
The Cretan Wave Project is a contemporary residential development of three holiday homes. Each residence measures 190.70 sqm (126.70 sqm of living space), arranged in a practical layout, and includes:
• open-plan kitchen and living area
• three bedrooms
• three bathrooms
• private, underground parking space for two (2) cars
• private pool
• underground storage space
The gardens are planted with low Mediterranean vegetation, including oregano, lavender and thyme, alongside trees typical of the region, such as olive and cypress. The planting keeps water consumption low and lets the project settle naturally into the surrounding landscape.
Location
The project sits in Daratsos, a residential pocket just west of Chania. The town centre and the Old Town are about 10 minutes away by car, putting the Venetian harbour, the covered market and the full range of city amenities within easy reach. Locally, there are shops, supermarkets, tavernas and bars for the day-to-day, with more nightlife a short drive away in town. Chania's Old Town is built around a Venetian harbour, with a long stone sea wall leading out to an old lighthouse. Behind the waterfront, narrow lanes wind back into the town, lined with worn stone buildings that mix Venetian, Ottoman and Greek architecture. Faded plaster in ochre and pink, arched doorways and the odd minaret give it a layered, lived-in feel. Tavernas and cafés fill the harbour front, while craft shops and quiet courtyards sit tucked away in the back streets. It is a working town rather than a preserved one, and the light off the water gives it a soft, weathered warmth.
Getting there is straightforward. Chania International Airport is around 20 km away, roughly a 30-minute drive, with seasonal and charter flights to destinations across Europe and year-round domestic links to Athens. Souda, Chania's main port, offers direct ferry connections to Piraeus, giving owners an overnight route to and from the mainland on top of the airport. The beaches are a big part of the appeal. Golden Beach, Agii Apostoli and Glaros all hold Blue Flag status for cleanliness and facilities, and the coastline slopes gently into clear water, with a mix of lively beaches and quieter sandy coves to choose from. Add the Samaria Gorge and the mountain villages of the interior within comfortable reach, and Daratsos becomes exactly what many Chania residents choose it for: a calm, residential base that stays close to everything.
