We’re excited to share that our very first webinar, as Elxis – At Home in Greece, was successfully completed. This marks an important milestone for us, and we’re proud to have taken this step in offering direct and practical guidance to those interested in purchasing a property in Greece.

The webinar, titled “Step-by-step guide: How can I buy a house in Greece?”, was created to support international buyers in understanding how the buying process works, what to expect, and how Elxis can assist them along the way. With participants joining from various countries, the turnout and engagement confirmed that there is strong interest in Greek real estate and, more importantly, in trusted, well-explained information.

Breaking Down the Buying Process

The first part of the webinar focused on how to buy a property in Greece, step by step. Using clear and simple language, we outlined each stage of the process, from identifying the right property to finalizing the purchase.

Laura Avonds, our experienced real estate agent, explained how a reservation works and what it means to “freeze” a listing so it’s taken off the market. The process was mapped out from beginning to end, so participants could walk away with a full understanding of the practical side of buying a home in Greece, even if they were just getting started.

What Are the Legal Steps to Buying Property in Greece?

In the second part of the session, Eleni Acquarone, our legal expert, walked attendees through the step-by-step legal process of purchasing property in Greece. This included how to conduct legal due diligence, what’s involved in signing a Private Purchase Agreement (PPA), and how to secure a Greek tax number (AFM).

The presentation also covered the importance of assigning a power of attorney to a lawyer, how the purchase deed is prepared and signed, and the final registration and tax formalities required. Practical tips were shared, such as verifying online information and making sure post-purchase obligations are handled correctly. For many attendees, this segment clarified the path from selecting a property to becoming its legal owner, highlighting that with proper guidance, the process can be both clear and efficient.

Questions That Matter

At the end of the session, we held a Q&A segment, coordinated by our senior real estate consultant, Dieuwertje (Dee) de Beer, where attendees had the chance to ask their own questions. We received inquiries about short-term rentals, ongoing maintenance, income taxes, and how long the process typically takes. This open dialogue helped us better understand what potential buyers are thinking about, and allowed us to offer practical answers in real time.

You Can Still Watch the Webinar

If you registered but were unable to attend, or if you’d simply like to rewatch key parts of the discussion, the full webinar is now available on demand. It’s a great way to gain valuable insights into the Greek real estate market and get a clearer view of how Elxis supports buyers from beginning to end.

We believe strongly in transparency, expertise, and human support. This first webinar was a natural extension of that belief, and we’re already looking ahead to hosting more sessions on topics that matter to our audience.

We thank everyone who joined us and look forward to connecting with more of you in the future.
