Free Webinar: Greece as a Retirement Destination: What You Need to Know

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Table of Contents

Retiring in Greece is a dream shared by many. The sunshine helps, of course — but so does the slower pace of life, the everyday simplicity, and the feeling that things matter a little less… in the best way.

Still, moving abroad for retirement is not a decision based on atmosphere alone. It comes with practical questions, legal steps, and important choices that deserve clear answers.

That’s why we’re hosting a free webinar focused on what it really means to retire in Greece — and what you should know before taking the next step.

A Realistic Look at Retirement in Greece

Greece offers a mild Mediterranean climate and long periods of sunshine, which is one of the main reasons retirees are drawn to the country. But retirement is not a holiday — it’s daily life.

In this session, we’ll talk about the kinds of things that matter once you’re here year-round: comfort, access, and choosing a home that fits not only your lifestyle today, but also your future needs.

We’ll also explore what makes certain areas of Greece particularly suitable for retirement living. Locations such as Crete, the Peloponnese, and the Ionian Islands each offer a different rhythm of life, infrastructure, and community, and part of the journey is finding what feels right for you.

Legal and Financial Considerations

Retiring abroad also comes with paperwork — and Greece is no exception.

During the webinar, we will touch on some of the key legal and practical requirements involved in long-term living, including the difference between EU and non-EU residency rules as well as why a Greek tax number (AFM) is essential for many property and administrative steps. We’ll also briefly discuss the tax environment for retirees, including Greece’s special pensioner regime, which offers a flat 7% tax rate for qualifying individuals who transfer their tax residence to Greece. The goal is not to overwhelm you with details — but to give you clarity on what is worth knowing early.

Live Q&A at the End

The webinar will conclude with a live Q&A session, allowing you to ask your own questions directly — whether you are already planning your move or simply exploring the idea.

Because retirement is personal, and the best answers are often the ones that apply to your exact situation.
