Would you move to Greece from the Netherlands to manage your own bed and breakfast? Would you let a TV show pick a potential romantic partner for you, and work side by side with them in your B&B to see if you find love? If you answered yes, you need to check out the TV show B&B Vol Liefde.
B&B Vol Liefde (B&B Full of Love) -- or B&B Zoekt Lief, if you are in Belgium -- is a Dutch televeision series where bed and breakfast owners look for the love of their lives. The Dutch B&B owners are alone in a foreign country, and the TV show matches them with a special someone to (hopefully) share their lives with. On the other side, hopeful bachelors and singles back in the Netherlands move abroad with the hope of falling in love with the B&B owner.
What exactly do the participants on B&B Vol Liefde do with the B&B owners? They become part-time employees of the B&B, helping to cook, clean, do laundry, and understand what it means to run a B&B. By the end of the season, the B&B owners must decide who they want to share their life at the B&B with. But, the other participant also needs to accept their offer.
You can watch B&B Vol Liefde in the Netherlands on RTL 4 and can also see it on Videoland. There are four seasons in total, and the latest season is currently airing in 2024.
In 2022 and 2023, the program was also broadcast in Belgium under the name B&B Zoekt Lief on VTM 2.
There is also a popular spinoff series which started in 2023, Winter Full of Love.
Meet Iris, one of the main features on B&B Vol Liefde season 4. Iris first came from The Netherlands to Greece in 1998 for holidays. After several return visits, she finally decided to purchase a pair of villas in Greece in 2017. Giving them the fitting name “Iris Villas”, Iris took up residence in one of the villas, and split the other villa into three apartments, which can be rented.
Iris Villas are located in a picturesque corner of central Greece in the village of Sparto, not far from Amfilochia.
Iris did her own research to find a property for sale in Greece. Unfortunately, there was a legal problem with local farmland, which delayed the purchase process. In Iris’s words, “Bureaucracy was difficult in Greece. You need to keep in mind that almost everyone has a house for sale – but many of those homes might not have papers.”
So, Iris called on Elxis – At Home in Greece for the legal handling. With the legal process completed, Iris was successfully able to open her B&B. Now her permanent residence, this spot on the Amvrakikos Gulf is her own hidden gem.
You can book one of Iris’s Villas on Booking.com.
We had the opportunity to interview Iris about her tips for Dutch people buying a home in Greece.
