Reading Time: 3 minutes

Table of Contents

Greece’s first-ever inter-island airline just lifted off. FlyCycladic is Greece’s first air carrier focused on island hopping, which makes them perfect for your Greek vacation. The airline is operated by Ifly SA and will operate year-round, covering the transport needs of local residents of the Cycladic islands as well as faster connections for tourists.

FlyCycladic Destinations

The airline is based in Paros and offers connections between Paros, Santorini, Syros, and Milos. It offers flights outside of the Cycladic islands as well, like Crete and Rhodes, and plans to extend its offerings to Mykonos, Naxos, and Astypalaia next summer.

Flight Duration

Flights on FlyCycladic last about 20 to 90 minutes, depending on the destination. The fleet of planes is single-engine Cessna Grand Caravan 208BEX planes, which means each flight seats 12 passengers. The average flight usually has 10 passengers. These small plans have large windows and a low environmental footprint compared to other planes. In the future, FlyCycladic plans to invest in electric planes – the first of their kind in Greece.

What’s the Advantage of FlyCycladic?

The convenience of a FlyCycladic flight is that it’s much quicker compared to a ferry ride. For example, a boat trip from Syros to Milos is 11 hours. On FlyCycladic, it takes less than one hour.

FlyCycladic Ticket Prices

For example, a flight from Santorini to Heraklion in Crete would cost 150€ in November. In general, ticket prices in the winter will be cheaper. FlyCycladic will offer special discounts for local residents on the islands.

Baggage Policy

Each passenger can carry up to 23 kg of baggage on board. Since the planes are small, there is no guarantee that extra baggage will be allowed.

Mykonos

Mykonos is one of the best-known Cycladic Islands, famous for its soft sand, luxury villas, and nightclubs that are world-famous. This is all on the backdrop of the classic blue and white Cycladic architecture. It is a party destination for the rich and famous as well. While visiting Mykonos island, you will want to see the famous windmills of Mykonos, powered by the island’s strong Meltemi winds. The five windmills above Little Venice are the most popular spot to watch the sunset.

Santorini

Santorini is one of Greece’s most romantic islands, attracting more visitors than any other island in Greece. This Cycladic island is known for its cliffside villages with dramatic sunsets, great food and wine, and unique Cycladic architecture. The multi-colored beaches are worth seeing as well. You can take a cruise around the caldera on a traditional fishing boat and climb up the crater of Nea Kameni. It is also worth visiting the prehistoric city of Akrotiri, a Minion settlement that was preserved by Santorini’s volcanic eruption in the 17th century BC.
