10% Discount on ENFIA Tax if you have Insurance

For a limited time, you can get a 10% discount on ENFIA, the main annual property tax in Greece, if you have ensured your home. This opportunity came into effect at the end of July based on a provision of the National Economy and Finance Ministry, and it is only available to act on until the end of September.

Minimum Requirements

The regulation states that your 2023 ENFIA can be reduced up to 10%, as long as the insurance policy meets the following requirements:

  • It must include Fire, Flood and Earthquake coverage
  • The minimum insured value must be at least 1,000 euros per square meter.
  • The property must be insured for at least one quarter within 2023. (In other words, as long as you get insured before the end of September, you will get the discount)

Important Details

The discount you receive will depend on the amount of time the property has been insured. For example, if you were insured for 12 months in 2023, you will get a 10% discount on ENFIA. If you were insured for 9 months in 2023, you will get a 7.5% discount. If you are insured for 3 months in 2023, you will get a 2.5% discount.

The property can either be your primary home, a holiday home, or a rental property. Note that the discount is applied to 2023 ENFIA taxes, which are paid at the beginning of 2024. The tax benefits shared in this article are provided by Hella Matalon, Insurance Advisor.
