Elxis has meant a lot to us. Our first plan was to buy a family hotel on Thassos.
We had already seen something on the internet and travelled to Thassos. Vangelis and Giorgos from Elxis arranged contact with our local agent there. A very nice Greek, who took us in his stride. We went out to look at several possibilities, but in the end we wanted to go for a family hotel in Skala Prinos.
The contact with the owners of the hotel was very good. We have been there several times. When we finally decided to go for the hotel, the crisis came and threw a spanner in the works. No more credit was possible; the money taps of all the banks, both in the Netherlands and in Greece, were closed. It took us almost two years to do this, you don’t do something like this overnight. Giorgos and Vangelis were really great. They helped us enormously, advised us and even translated our business plan.
Let’s start something we don’t need the bank for. We asked Elxis again for advice, if they knew something else, something we could rent out but of course also for ourselves. It was the end of 2009, we had actually just returned from Thassos, when they pointed us to a new project in Etoloakarnania. Etoloa what? Well, we know all of Greece, but we had never even heard of this place. It is one of the provinces of Epirus; the west coast of Greece. This corner of Greece has always had a special place for us.
There were 2 projects to check out. Ionian Sunset Bay in Agia Varvara, opposite Lefkas Town and Ionian Nest, near Paleros. The pictures looked really fantastic. We had to see it, so we booked another plane and left at the end of November. We arrived with beautiful weather, about 23 degrees, which was very special. And the shops were already displaying Christmas items, something we had never experienced before.
Vangelis and Giorgos had, of course, taken care of our contact there again. We came into contact with the project developer and his engineer. To make a long story short: We fell in love with both projects, but most of all with Ionian Sunset Bay, near Lefkas Town. Also because of the good rental possibilities. In the spring of 2010 we finally bought our one bedroom flat. We are now very proud owners.
The enormous support we have received from Elxis before, during and after the purchase is priceless. We are very grateful to Vangelis and Giorgos. They are more than a real estate office to us. We feel that we have made some Greek friends again. Thanks for everything!
