Location

Mariou is less than a 5 minutes drive from the seaside resort of Plakias and 15 minutes from the palm beach of Preveli. Plakias has dozens of restaurants, cafes, shops, supermarkets, beach bars, and of course the famous 1.3 km wide sandy beach, which can be reached within a 4-minute drive. In the immediate vicinity, there are countless other beautiful, quiet bays and beaches, such as Damnoni, Souda, Ammoudi, and Ammoudaki.

The nearest larger town is Rethymnon, a half-hour drive. Mariou can be reached from the airport of Heraklion and from the airport of Chania within 1.5 hours.
